Ignite is our alternative pathway in KS4 which follows on from Horizon in KS3.
Curriculum Intent:
At Axis Academy, Ignite offers a safe, therapeutic space where pupils can re-engage with education after facing significant barriers. We provide a flexible, needs-led curriculum that focuses on emotional wellbeing, resilience, and restoring confidence.
Guided by our values—child-centred, adaptive to need, and authentic—we aim to rebuild trust, develop independence, and prepare pupils for life beyond the classroom. Our teaching supports emotional regulation and communication while delivering core subjects—English, Maths, and Science—through personalised, accessible steps.
We teach essential life skills, social communication, and emotional literacy, helping pupils develop the tools they need to thrive. Aspirations are raised through exposure to new experiences, role models, and future pathways in learning and work.
Cultural capital is built through links to the local community, enrichment activities, and meaningful real-world connections. Every pupil’s journey is unique—but all are supported to grow, believe in themselves, and achieve lasting success
